It’s interesting, when it comes to Christmas, that our kids are taught to be nice so that they might be rewarded with a present or two. Don’t be naughty or Santa might just cross you off. Of course, if we really believed that, retail stores would lose all their business. Who really thinks they’re not on the naughty list? The Bible is quite clear, there is no one who is righteous, not even one. That’s why Christmas is so very important. The righteous one came into the world to place Himself on the naughty list and take our place. We are rewarded by God with the gift of eternal life, not because we’ve earned it, but because He traded places with us. He freely gave Himself up, to bear our punishment, so that those who believe in Him, who trust in Him, would be released from the penalty of disobedience and inherit the privileges that belong to sons and daughters. Christmas isn’t about naughty or nice at all. What’s it about? The gift of the Son who would take our place.
