“For God so loved the world that he gave…” To love is to give. To give is to love. And sure, there is a kind of love that takes. And there is a kind of giving that doesn’t love. That is all true. But real love, agape love, and godly giving, selfless giving, they are two sides of the one coin. They hold hands and walk together. Let me try to make this a bit more personal. “For Duncan loves his wife that he gave…” “For Duncan loved his children that he gave…” “For Duncan loved the church that he gave…” “For Duncan loved the Lord that he gave…” In real practical terms you can see the extent of my love for my wife, my children, the church, the Lord in what I give. Have you ever thought about giving in those terms? Have you ever thought about love in those terms? Giving of my time and energy. Giving of my affection and yes, giving of my finances. Why? Because I love them.
