In Genesis 30-31 we follow the ongoing saga of Jacob’s rather dysfunctional family. Be encouraged if your family is a bit of a mess. Yahweh isn’t the God of those who have it all together. He’s the God of the broken and the completely messed up. And being their God He then goes to work. He does what only He can do. But there’s something more that we see in the story unfolding in these two chapters. Yahweh sees all of the pain that no one else sees. He hears every silent prayer. And He remembers those who have lost hope and have no future. This should be tremendously encouraging for anyone who desperately wants to be seen and heard and remembered. And even if there’s stuff in your life that you’re ashamed of, Yahweh is able to deal with that too. Take it to Him and see if what I’m saying isn’t true. Who is Yahweh? He’s the God who sees and hears and remembers.
